Plush Ready Artwork
Understanding What Is Required For Your Prototype
What is it ?
We use the term 'Plush Ready' at Binkley for artwork that can easily translate to a plush toy. Often we will get artwork from clients that looks nice, but leaves us with many questions as to how to make their toy.
Why do you need it ?
Your image or logo may look cute on a flat piece of paper or computer screen, but transferring that in to a 3D toy can present some real design issues. The more questions that remain unanswered when your toy is being made, the less likely we are to meet your expectations. There are a few examples below which may explain this more clearly, and you will understand that what may seem 'obvious' doesn't always work out that well.
Why you should not do it yourself ?
You should let us help with images and sketches, since we have handled thousands or projects in the past. This type of service is fully included in our Basic Startup package, and our Ultimate package.

This client came to us with a really cute logo. They considered this 'Plush Ready'. We didn't agree. There were too many questions about the look of a physical product.
We asked:
Were the eyes to be different sizes?
Were both eyes on the same side of the head?
How much space was between the ears?
How wide were his ears?
Was one back leg pointing forward and the other pointing sideways?
|
We recommended some additional sketches, and when we started in showing the results, there were some revisions necessary since the new front angle view resulted in new questions.
This eliminated 'surprises' in the prototype stage. |
The resulting plush toy was a close match to the vision the client had in their head. The extra time and energy required to work out the details was well worth it, since it saved many weeks, and hundreds of dollars if we had to make a second prototype.
