Patent Pending

Let me give you a small glimpse of how we pull off projects successfully over and over again. I call it the SEED System. It is a 4 point system that works together seamlessly. SEED is an acronym so let’s take it one letter at a time. (S-E-E-D)

SEED -System Integration is an immense part of how we run every stuffed toy project. There are hundreds of documented steps, double checks, and procedures that are followed by your Project Manager to ensure the success of your project. At times there can be a curve ball or surprise introduced into a project but by using System Integration your Project Manager brings your project back on track and keeps it going smoothly often without you even knowing something was amiss.
SEED -eProduction - you've heard of email and ecommerce, well we have developed eProduction. This sole proprietary system took years to develop. Nobody else has this system. We take a new Binkley staff person and train them extensively. We then sit them in front of a computer terminal that has direct connections to the factory floor, the shipping people, the designers, and to you. eProduction is a custom software package developed over the years costing over $200,000 to complete. The software allows your Project Manager to communicate effectively with the dozens of professionals involved in your project. eProduction breaks down delays and mistakes found in phone calls and emails normally used to communicate with the various locations needed to put a project together.

SEED -Expert Advisor- Rob Bishop, the owner of this website and Binkley Toys Inc. has years of experience in developing, designing and manufacturing stuffed toys. He started making the toys locally which gave him first hand knowledge of every step. His greatest strength though comes from saying this simple phrase; "I don't know, let's find out!" This simple statement puts the Binkley Team in to action to solve your design needs, and get the right answer for your project. We tap in to one of a hundred experts located all over the world that are ready to jump when asked. Your Project Manager is your direct link to Expert Advice and timely solutions.

SEED -Dedicated Project Manager. Your dedicated Project Manager (PM) is your main contact throughout the life of the project. They are on your side and will be the one implementing our complex and detailed SEED system to make your project a success. Our clients find their PM to be an invaluable asset because when a thought comes to mind you simply pick up the phone or send an email and one person who understands your project from start to finish is there ready for you. There can be obstacles between you and your achieving your goals. It is best to have a Dedicated Project Manager on your side when the going gets tough to ensure success.

Where This System Came From!

S - System Integration – I don’t know how it is in your town or city, but growing up I was made fun of because I worked at McDonald’s. Back when I was 15 I lied about my age to get my job at McDonald’s. I needed the money since my family consisted of my Dad and me, and we were very poor. I needed more money since my paper route wasn't going to cut it anymore. I had to wear those funny paper hats that looked like half paper and half mesh envelopes on your head. Silly looking really if I look back at it now. I also had to wear one of those funny polyester uniforms. Not attractive. And it gets worse.

Our Customer's Keep Coming BackI didn’t tell a lot of friends that I worked at McDonald’s just to avoid the jokes about it. I also had a friend get fired 5 months in to my burger flipping career because we joked around all the time. With him gone there was nothing ‘fun’ to do so I just worked. By 16 years of age I was a shift manager, and by 17 I was a general manager running my own McDonald’s store. This was quite a trick with still being in high school and playing sports at a very high level. I never realized it but it was pointed out to me that I was the youngest manager that they ever had in our area. I didn’t even think about it as being something special at the time. Read on to see where I'm going with this.

Fast forward many years after I left McDonalds, left University and was looking to grow this toy company. I was reading every business book I could to keep the toy company going. I realized something very amazing. My time at McDonalds was the best business training I could ever ask for. I was reading celebrated business books like “E-Myth” by Michael Gerber who talk about the importance of systems and how McDonald’s is the epitome of systems in business. And here's the point.

After all this time, I realized where my obsessive dedication to systemizing every step in our company for our well trained Project Managers came from. Whether you like their food or not, it doesn't matter for this example, the point remains that McDonalds is a machine that delivers the same results everytime. I was building my own company based on that dedication to systemization. But wait...

Before you think that your toy idea is different and that there is no way a pre made‘system’ can accommodate all of your ideas, I can tell you now that you are wrong. The system is built to accommodate new ideas, and flex with an inventor’s ideas.

I am not talking about junkie fast food here, I am talking about a set of complex steps that when put together delivers the results you want every time!

The SEED system is proven and has been used on over a thousand projects with great success.

E - eProduction - you've heard of email and ecommerce, well I have developed eProduction. If I could describe to you how I would run a project in the past compared to now, you would be amazed. How I would run a project in the past, and how all other custom toy companies still do it, is by sending emails, faxes and phone messages to China for updates, changes and orders.
The problem with this is that email is not perfect. A server could be down, or a spam blocker could stop an email from going through. I would send a lengthy email with instructions for our China factory to follow and wait. A week later I would follow up asking about the projects in that email. It happened a number of times that my Production Manager in China would say yes, I got your email. (He meant the email I just sent) Four or five days later I would ask how each project was progressing based on my previous two emails. My Production Manager would ask what I was talking about since he was confused by my email last week.
I then realized that he didn’t get the important email 2 weeks ago. Ugg…I just had a dozen projects delayed over 2 weeks because of one email not getting through. And that is only what I am willing to admit to you now as far as the problems I ran in to again and again.

All of those problems are gone because of our SEED system. Our eProduction system is an online system where your Project Manager has a constant communication with the designers, production managers, shippers, artists and more. I don’t have the system rely on email, fax or phone, so there is no chance of something going wrong. It is virtually perfect. There are enough obstacles in bringing a toy to market, you don’t need an email going missing to have your dreams delayed.

E – Expert Advisor. I don’t like talking about this one. I asked my staff if it would be okay if we called this the SED system, and they said that was stupid. The second E in the SEED system stands for Expert Advisor. I am that Expert, but I don’t like the title. My employee who has been with the company the longest still drops her jaw when I talk about international logistics, online marketing, ecommerce or stuffed toy production. Pretty much anything to do with creating, producing and selling a stuffed toy I have studied, practiced and perfected. Please…try me! I started making stuffed toys locally which gave me first hand knowledge of every step. My greatest strength though comes from saying this simple phrase; "I don't know, let's find out!" This simple statement puts my Binkley Team in to action to solve your design needs, and get the right answer for your project. I tap in to one of a hundred experts located all over the world that are ready to jump when asked. The Project Managers that I hire, train myself and have direct contact with every day are your line to me for expert advice and timely solutions.

D - Dedicated Project Manager. I struggled with this part of the SEED system the most over the years. Like any entrepreneur I didn't think anyone else could run a custom stuffed toy project like I could. I hired highly educated people who I thought should be as smart or smarter then me who could run projects with more success then I. I was wrong. My hiring process didn't target the very specific skills which are necessary to run creative, lengthy and sometimes difficult projects. I learned more and more with each hire (and fire) over the years. The special mix of skills a Binkley Project Manager would require to 'make it' became apparent. What I was amazed with is that when I gave my detailed system to the right people they would run projects better then I ever could. As our company grew I was being pulled in many directions and I soon appreciated that I was no longer the best Project Manager. (in the last couple of years I may very well be the worst Project Manager here since I do not have the attention to give that your project deserves)

BIG TIP - Do not confuse our "Dedicated Project Manager" with just that 'same person you contact with your questions' that you will find at our competition. At this time I don't know of one other company that has Dedicated PMs that are not worried about 'other things' when they hang up the phone with you.

You will notice that we do not sell our own line of products. We do not have a warehouse full of stock I am pushing my staff to sell. This means that your PM is not hanging the phone up with you and worrying about a big sale to a retailer that they are trying to land. Or they are not spending their time getting an 'easy sale' of in-stock products and letting the 'real work' of a custom toy project go.

I am proud to say that any of our Project Managers are the key to making the SEED System work.

Let us help make your project successful.
